The BiodiversiTalks are a series of meetings as part of the Spoke 5 research activities of the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC); the fifth session dedicated to urban biodiversity monitoring and social impact assessment offers a review of reflections, ideas, and experiences to explore and understand how social impact assessment procedures contribute to monitoring and conservation of biodiversity in urban contexts. Monitoring urban biodiversity and its socio-ecological impacts in urban areas is evolving and contains a variety of perspectives from around the world in academia and practice. Through this session, we review current progress for social impact monitoring systems and social-ecological framework developments (act. 7.3.3) alongside exploring similar experiences on impact measurement with the use of biodiversity and nature as a critical factor in Europe. We reflect and discuss plural perspectives from planners, biologists, and sociologists on social impact assessment.
